Metropolitan School District of Washington Township,MONROE, IN
VALUE DELIVERED
$418,511 in guaranteed average annual energy and operational cost savings over 10 years — enough to cover all project costs in slightly over 3 ½ years; higher quality indoor air; improved building comfort; streamlined maintenance; increased ability to measure and control energy usage; optimized building system performance; greater system reliability; ongoing economies, efficiencies and investment returns.
OBJECTIVES
To improve energy efficiency, air quality, building comfort and HVAC reliability in an 800,000-square-foot high school.
SOLUTIONS
To help it achieve its objectives, this school district selected EMCOR Construction Services (ECS) to replace the building control system in one of its high schools. Supported by their extensive expertise in energy-efficiency solutions, ECS energy specialists planned and installed a state-of-the-art TAC Andover BACnet facility management system with improved control algorithms for all air-handling units, variable air volume boxes, boilers and chillers. Once the new controls were installed, ECS technicians completely recommissioned the building to optimize performance.
The new system’s utility-grade power measuring and monitoring capabilities now enable the district to meter, monitor and, ultimately, control the school’s energy consumption and costs far more precisely than was possible with the previous campus-wide metering system. Meanwhile, the district has also gained in ECS a long-term partner that can provide the expert, responsive energy systems services needed to ensure reliable operation and ongoing value.
