Parkview Women's and Children's Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN
Havel, a division of Shambaugh & Son (Shambaugh), was brought in by Parkview to provide Building Automation System (BAS) expertise during the renovation of a community hospital into Parkview Health System’s specialty Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Working alongside Shambaugh’s electrical installation team, Havel’s knowledge of the particular automation and controls needs of healthcare facilities helped the project finish on time and within budget.
The 78,000-square-foot, new Women's and Children's Hospital, including a 20,000-square-foot renovation, was the first phase in a seven-year plan to convert an existing Parkview building into a state-of-the-art, specialty hospital, capable of serving the unique healthcare needs of the region’s women and children.
Havel provided and installed a BAS capable of integrating the variety of complex systems required for effective operation of a healthcare facility, including:
- HVAC system
- Power distribution and backup systems
- Medical gas system
- Complete temperature trending
- Alarming of critical hospital equipment, irrigation system, and backup domestic water distribution
